4 Kids — Editorial, Educational, and Legal Disclaimer

  1. Purpose of Our Content. 4 Kids (“we,” “us,” or the “Ministry”) is a Florida not-for-profit corporation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our website, blog, newsletters, and related educational materials (collectively, the “Content”) are provided for general educational and informational purposes and to share our Christian perspective on mental health and relationships. Our Content is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, clinical social work, or any other form of professional advice.
  2.  Our Content Is Separate From Our Therapy Services. Reading our Content is not the same as receiving therapy through our therapy services. Our therapy services are delivered by licensed independent contractor therapists under a separate written client agreement and informed consent. Individualized therapy is not delivered through the blog, comments, forms, or any other feature of our website. Information about our therapy services is available at www.heal.online and is subject to the terms of the client agreement and informed consent presented at intake.
  3. No Professional Relationship Through Our Content. Your use of our Content, including reading, subscribing, commenting, submitting a prayer request, or purchasing a resource, does not create a therapist-client, counselor-client, physician-patient, attorney-client, pastoral, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and the Ministry or any author of our Content. Our authors do not provide clinical services to readers of our Content.
  4. Not a Substitute for Professional Care. Our Content is not a substitute for individualized evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or other services provided by a qualified, licensed mental health professional, physician, or other appropriate professional. Do not disregard, avoid, or delay obtaining professional advice from a licensed professional because of anything you have read on our website or in our Content. If you or someone in your care may need mental health or medical care, please consult a licensed professional.
  5. Authors and Credentials. Licensed mental health professionals write clinical content on our website. Where an author is licensed, we identify the author’s credentials and state of licensure. A specific state or jurisdiction issues an author’s license and does not authorize the author to practice in every location where our Content may be read. Non-clinical content, such as articles on how to use our website or how to select a licensed therapist, may be written by unlicensed personnel; those articles are informational only and do not constitute clinical advice.
  6. Christian Perspective. We approach mental health and relationships from a Christian worldview and integrate Scripture with information from the professional literature. Our theological perspective represents our own understanding of Scripture and is not the only faithful understanding held by Christians. Scripture references we cite are drawn from the New International Version (NIV) unless otherwise indicated. Consult your own pastor or spiritual leader within your own faith tradition for individual spiritual guidance.
  7. No Diagnosis, No Prescription, No Treatment Through Our Content. We do not diagnose or treat any medical, mental health, emotional, relational, or spiritual condition through our Content. Any techniques, tips, coping strategies, exercises, journaling prompts, or similar practices we describe are general educational information. They are not a treatment plan. Their appropriateness for you or someone in your care can only be assessed by a qualified professional who knows the individual’s history and circumstances.
  8. Crisis and Emergency Situations. Our Content is not intended for use in crisis or emergency situations. If you or someone you know is in crisis or in danger, call 911 immediately. If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm, call or text 988 (the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233. To report suspected abuse, abandonment, or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult in Florida, call the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-96-ABUSE (1-800-962-2873). We are not a crisis service and do not monitor comments, submissions, messages, or other communications for emergencies.
  9. Currency of Information. Mental health science and practice change over time. We make reasonable efforts to reflect the state of the professional literature as of the date of each article. Still, we do not undertake to update older articles as new research emerges. Do not rely on any article as reflecting the current state of clinical knowledge without independent verification.
  10. Third-Party Content and Links. We may reference research studies, books, professionals, tools, or organizations, or link to third-party websites. Any such references and links are for the reader’s convenience and educational context. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, third-party content, products, services, professionals, credentials, or practices. Verify the credentials of any professional you consider engaging.
  11. Resources We Offer. We may offer devotionals, journals, ebooks, courses, videos, and similar resources through this website. Those resources are educational and devotional in nature and are subject to this Disclaimer. The purchase or use of any resource does not create a professional relationship with the Ministry or any of its authors, nor does it enroll you in our therapy services.
  12. Your Responsibility. You are responsible for your own decisions, and for the decisions you make on behalf of those in your care. You agree to use your own judgment and, where appropriate, to consult qualified professionals before acting on anything you read in our Content.
  13. No Warranty. Our Content is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and merchantability.
  14. Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by Florida law, the Ministry and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and authors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of our Content, whether based in contract, tort, statute, or any other theory. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. This Section 14 does not modify any provision of the separate client agreement and informed consent that applies to our therapy services.
  15. Governing Law and Forum. This Disclaimer and any dispute arising from it or from your use of our Content are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any action must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Broward, Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
  16. Changes. We may update this Disclaimer from time to time. The version in effect is the version posted on this page as of the date shown below. Your continued use of our website after any update constitutes your acceptance of the updated Disclaimer.
